Dr. Kubany has written theoretical articles and conducted experimental studies on a conceptual model of guilt. He and his colleagues have developed and validated three scales: (1) the Trauma-Related Guilt Inventory, (2) the Traumatic Life Events Questionnaire, (a broad-spectrum measure of prior trauma exposure), and (3) the Distressing Event Questionnaire (a brief diagnostic measure of PTSD). Dr. Kubany is also in the process of refining and validating an Acute Stress Disorder Scale and a Traumatic Life Events Questionnaire for Children and Adolescents. Dr. Kubany has developed a structured cognitive-behavioral intervention (called Cognitive Trauma Therapy) for the treatment of PTSD, guilt, and depression. His research team has been awarded a 3-year grant to evaluate the efficacy of Cognitive Trauma Therapy in a treatment-outcome study with 120 battered women suffering from PTSD. |
